Prominent personalities as well as Energy Globe Ambassadors in 90 countries support the mission of Energy Globe. The activities of Energy Globe attract worldwide media attention – international TV stations report each year with approximately 1,000 hours of broadcasting time. The aim of the Energy Globe is to raise global attention on sustainable, everywhere applicable environmental solutions and to motivate people to also become active in this area.

This project work seeks to address the long-standing problems of land degradation, desertification, and food & water security experienced by the people and countries of the MENA Region. This initiative seeks to educate & demonstrate to people within MENA how to apply the techniques and strategies necessary to address these conditions effectively. It would provide a much-needed opportunity for local people to have an active hand in changing their conditions while gaining skills and knowledge that would benefit the entire region. The ultimate purpose of this project is to rehabilitate, restore & regenerate the MENA Region’s ecological base. The impact of undertaking this project will mean that the people of the MENA Region will have developed the internal capacity to provide access to clean water, a secure supply of food, stable ecological and environmental infrastructure, improved health, increased educational opportunities, an overall better quality of life and a means to develop a self-sustaining economy leading to healthier, more productive lives. The main broad goal of the project is to enhance and maintain the highly valuable Ecosystem Services provided by the region’s landscapes through a process of knowledge sharing and capacity building for long-term local stewardship.

This is accomplished through increasing both natural and social capital. Developing stewardship capacity, leadership, and skills will be approached in the social realm by building further on already existing institutions, by ‘training the trainers’ in the land design and management sciences proposed, by expanding the diversity of livelihood strategies in line with stewardship principles, and through the practice and process of the proposed learning and implementation itself.
