The soil has been dressed, loosening up with stones removed, and compost has been added. Hay mulch is used to maximize water-efficiency. The project is connected to the school’s science classroom, emphasizing permaculture as a design science, and kids are helping. Through Greening the Desert’s presence, they get to interact with a multi-national collection of students and volunteers, and the children feed off of the visitors’ enthusiasm.
